Jacksonville police provide a safe zone to carry out online sales

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – With an increase in online sales in recent years, some law enforcement agencies are providing safe zones to carry out sales.

Jacksonville police encourage you to meet at their station to buy or sell an item from online.

Their lobby is open from 7 am to midnight every day.

Police urge you to never give out personal information.

“Most importantly location of where you actually live, instead go to a location out in the public where you can be seen and to make it safer for both parties and we want it in a well-lit area and the police department has a great location for that,” said Lt. Devon Brown with the Jacksonville Police Department.

WNCT told Jacksonville Police about other agencies using signs in their parking lot to show areas designated for exchanges.

The department has now ordered those signs to add to its parking lot.
