GPD investigating a shots fired call near the Econo Lodge

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The Greenville Police Department is investigating a “shots fired” call near the Econo Lodge hotel.

Greenville Police say officers were dispatched to the hotel off of South Memorial Drive just before 3:30 Friday morning.

A witness told responding officers they heard three shots coming from the area behind the Waffle House. Police say a person was seen running across the restaurant parking lot and into a room at the hotel.

Investigators say one person was detained for question, but later released pending further investigation.
