Powerball sales rising as jackpot reaches $900 million

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The jackpot in Saturday’s Powerball drawing has been raised yet again, it’s estimated to be at 900 million dollars.

It’s the largest Powerball in U.S. history, since no one matched the numbers drawn from Wednesday night’s jackpot. A single winner could take a one-time cash payout of 496 million dollars before taxes. Tina Edwards says she bought a few tickets today and if she wins she’s going to give it to someone who needs it.

“There are a lot of people out there that do need help. If I was blessed enough to win, I would want them to have it,” Tina Edwards said.

Officials say the odds of winning are 292 million to one.  If no one wins, the next jackpot will be 1.3 billion dollars. We will have those winning Powerball numbers for you tonight on WNCT at 11.
