RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Republican presidential hopeful Marco Rubio is making his way to North Carolina after several weekend events in South Carolina.
The Florida senator scheduled a late afternoon rally Saturday at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. Then he’ll have an evening fundraiser at the home of Raleigh developer John Kane.
Rubio arrives after several stops Friday and early Saturday in South Carolina, which holds its GOP preference primary Feb. 20. The North Carolina primary is March 15, so the number of candidates visiting the state should start increasing.
Republican Donald Trump attracted thousands to his rally last month at Dorton Arena on the fairgrounds. The Rubio event was set for the smaller Holshouser Building.
