Unseen items on display at Kinston museum

GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT)-The CSS Neuse Interpretive Center in Kinston has some new items on display.

A group of artifacts entitled “Treasures from the Vault” are all unseen items from the museum’s collection. Site manager Matthew Young says the museum keeps things that don’t make the exhibit in a vault. The staff members each picked out their favorite items, and made the display together.

“We wanted to be able to put out some things that the staff found really cool or really interesting or had a unique story, and these are the objects that we came up with to put them out on display,” Young said.

Young says most places can only exhibit about 20 percent of all the things they have in stock. The current “Treasures from the Vault” will be up for about six months before the staff picks different items to display.
