Some children prevented from visiting patients at Vidant Medical Center

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Vidant Medical Center will implement a restriction for some visitors starting Wednesday.

According to a release, only children 12 and older can visit patients at the James and Connie Maynard Children’s Hospital.

The restriction will go in place on Wednesday at 8 A.M. The release says the measure comes after increased Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and other viral respiratory illnesses cases.

If a child is under the age of 12, then he or she can only visit their healthy newborn sibling if the child is not sick and lives in the same household.

Adults are also cautioned from visiting if they have symptoms of a cold or flu, fever, diarrhea, vomiting or headaches.

The restriction is temporary and will be removed when the number of cases reported decrease.
