Pitt County Sheriff request for crime to halt for Christmas

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT)- Tis the season to stop crime. That’s the message from Pitt County Sheriff Neil Elks.

He posted the plea on Facebook asking that all criminal activity stop Thursday night at 11:59p.m.

He says law enforcement wants to be available in case Santa needs help. The ordinance will be lifted on December 26 at midnight.

Anyone who does not follow the ordinance will be penalized severely.
