Pitt Co. Angel Tree program still needs donations

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Pitt County’s Salvation Army is helping hundreds of kids in need this holiday season, and it’s not too late for you to contribute.

The Angel Tree program wrapped up earlier this month, but they’re still accepting applicants and donations.

So far, they’ve collected items for more than 600 kids. But they still aren’t able to fulfill all the requests.

Since September of last year, the need in Pitt County has grown over 600%, while donations have dropped about 40%.

“The need is always greater than what we receive. That’s just a fact of life and we have to take what we have and spread it around and stretch our budget and try to make it work for everyone that comes here,” said Stephanie McKenzie with the Pitt County Salvation Army.

To make a donation in time for Christmas, you must do it by Christmas Eve. You can head to the Salvation Army in Greenville, or go to their website to donate.
