GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Many local stores opened early in anticipation of last-minute shoppers.
“We always have a busy day the day before Christmas,” says Bill Coffman.
Coffman’s Men’s Clothing in Arlington Village was busy Christmas Eve, as last-minute shoppers found perfect presents just in time. Coffman says many shoppers choose to be under the gun.
“People love waiting until the last-minute,” he says. “That’s the way they like to shop. They like the pressure of it. They come in and they have to make a decision.”
Although it may not feel like Christmas, many people are getting into the spirit.
“Surprisingly, I thought we wouldn’t see as many people with the bad weather we’ve been having but it hasn’t dampened that many people’s spirits,” says Ciara Fleming of Shimmer Boutique.
Retail employees say not to worry about the presents.
“Just enjoy the holidays,” says Fleming. “Don’t worry about the shopping just enjoy your family that day.”
And if you didn’t make it to every store…
“We have gift cards available online so if you don’t make it before we close, you can always go online and get something tonight,” says Coffman.
And sales are a guarantee following the holiday.
