Local man sets state records in Special Olympic games

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Scott Taylor is making the most of his second chance at life by setting two state records at the Special Olympics games.

More than 10 years ago, Taylor was involved in a bicycle accident that led to a traumatic brain injury. Now, years later, he spends as much time as possible at the gym and lifting weights.

A few years ago, Taylor set the state records for dead lift and shot put.

He said he never imagined he would break any records, but said it’s a feat everyone can learn from.

“Just put you mind to it and work hard, and you can achieve it,” Taylor said.

Taylor continues to train at Snap Fitness in Greenville. Trainers there said he is extremely determined, and achieves what he puts his mind to.
