Teen taken into custody after Pamlico Co. shooting incident

ARAPAHOE, N.C. (WNCT) – A Pamlico County juvenile was taken into custody after a shooting incident Monday afternoon.

The Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office says 911 operators received reports of a suspect with a gun, shooting at houses on Griffin Lane in Arapahoe.

Deputies were dispatched to the scene, secured the area and conducted several interviews. The Sheriff’s Office says deputies were told that a 15-year-old had shot at a relative, shot a cat and shot at at house before running into the woods.

Additional manpower was requested, and the area was searched for approximately an hour. Deputies received additional information that the juvenile was provided a ride to the Reelsboro community.

Deputies found the firearm used in the incident at that residence, and a short time later the juvenile was located at a residence on Roberts Road in Arapahoe and taken into custody without incident.
