UPDATE: No charges in Beaufort Co. school bus crash

WASHINGTON, N.C. (WNCT) – A Washington couple is looking to rebuild after a Beaufort County school bus crashed into their living room.

It happened around 6:15 a.m. on U.S. 264 East near Harvey Road, which is East of Washington.

Troopers say the bus veered off the road trying to avoid tires which fell off a truck on to the road.

A woman was sleeping inside the home at the time of the crash.

Her husband told 9 On Your Side about the call to 911 his wife made.

“The house has been hit! The house has been hit! I’m about to call 911,” he said.

Sarah Hodges Stalls, spokesperson for Beaufort Co. Schools, says no students were on board the bus when it crashed and the driver was not taken to the hospital.

The bus, #282, was a Beaufort County Schools bus which transports Beaufort County students to the Northeast Regional School of Biotechnology and AgriScience in Jamesville.

There were no students on board and no one was transported needing treatment from the scene.

Highway Patrol says no charges will be filed in this incident.
