GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – A local developer donated $100,000 to help revitalize West Greenville.
Taft-Ward Investments gave the money as part of a deal to purchase land from the city.
City Council members will discuss Thursday night what the next steps are to putting the donation to action.
Councilmember Kandie Smith said people living in West Greenville will have influence in where this money goes.
“We want to get a focus group together,” Smith said. “We want people invested in the area, living in the area to come together and say, ‘hey what do we think would be something good that this money could be used for?'”
Councilmember Rose Glover wants to spend money to improve some of those homes’ curb appeal
“It plays a big role in economic development because the more we fix up our community, the more people want to move in our community,” Glover said.
West Greenville resident Nelson Everett likes that his community will receive economic investment.
“I think that’s wonderful,” Everett said. “Totally necessary.”
