MANNS HARBOR, N.C. (AP) — The North Carolina Department of Transportation has announced that the summer 2016 ferry routes will be extended for the Pamlico Sound routes.
The Virginian-Pilot reports (http://bit.ly/1XJiwYl ) a news release from the department says most of the 2015 ferry departure times will remain the same, but other changes were made based on data on passengers from past years.
The Pamlico Sound routes will begin the first week of May and end during the last week of September.
The schedule will begin later for the Hatteras-Ocracoke route. The summer schedule will begin on May 24 and end on Oct. 10.
No changes were made to the Currituck-Knotts Island, Bayview-Aurora or Cherry Branch-Minnesott Beach routes. The Southport-Fort Fisher route will have an added off-season run.
