Shoppers, local businesses in East celebrate “Cyber Monday”

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Shoppers and local businesses throughout the East celebrated what could be the biggest “Cyber Monday” on-record.

The Adobe Digital Index reported sales Monday were on track to shatter the $3 billion level.

Local business owners like Sup Dogs owner Bret Oliverio participated in the holiday.

“We’re able to develop a social media following, really tap into that following on Cyber Monday and make a few bucks off of that,” Oliverio said.

Shopper Breanna Teal said she began Cyber Monday shopping as soon as the clock struck midnight.

“I don’t live near a mall,” Teal said. “I live in a very small town so that’s why I prefer Cyber Monday.”

Shopper Dominique Christianson said she didn’t like going to a “brick-and-mortar” store on Black Friday.

“There’s too many people, and it was really crowded so I’m definitely going to do some cyber Monday shopping,” Christianson said.
