KINSTON, NC (WNCT) – Children at Moss Hill Elementary School have a new place to get fit.
Project Fit America, an outdoor workout center, was recently installed at the school, and it’s having a big impact on the student’s health..
Elizabeth Pendelton, Principle at Moss Hill Elementary, says the workout center is an asset to the school.
“Childhood health and obesity is a huge issue and so as happy as we are to have electronics and one on one initiatives in the schools, we also need to have a good balance between that and having children outside and playing and make sure they’re in shape, so this is providing that good balance.” (12 sec)
Only two of the workout centers exist east of Greensboro. It’s complete with workout equipment and instructions on how to perform exercises.
The elementary school worked with Lenoir Memorial Hospital to get the workout center, after getting a grant of $18,000.
