Washington names new city manager

WASHINGTON, N.C. (WNCT) – The Washington City Council voted earlier this week in favor of making Bobby Roberson the new city manager. Roberson had been serving as interim manager after Brian Alligood left the position to take over as county manager.

The change will take effect on January 1, 2016.

Roberson said he is excited to officially get the position, and hopes to move the city forward with his planning background. He said he will use it to help grow the area and businesses.

“We’re trying to build a hotel, a visitor and tourism set up, so we’re excited about that,” he said. “We’ve got a brand new hotel going out on 15th St. with each rooms in it, and it’s a $7.5 million, so we’re excited about that as well.”
