Pitt County first responders treated to appreciation luncheon

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – First responders in Pitt County got the chance to receive some thanks today at a special meal.

Jarvis Memorial United Methodist Church hosted its 9th Annual Thanksgiving Luncheon in Greenville.

The event honors first responders and their supporting staff.

The congregation treated these every day heroes to an early Thanksgiving lunch in appreciation for their hard work and dedication.

Lunch included turkey, dessert, all the fix-ins, and plenty of fellowship.

Senior Pastor Jon Strother says this event is all about giving thanks to those who serve.

“We want to say thank you to the servants from our community that sacrifice so much for all of us, for all safety and well-being,” said Strother.

GPD Sergeant Rudy Oxendine tells us any support no matter what goes a long way.

“We appreciate any support that we can get,” says Oxendine. “Obviously everyone knows that we have a difficult job and we deal with a lot of issues that a lot of people probable don’t want to even think about so to know that we have support out there is truly a blessing.”
