Folks traveling from across the country to celebrate Thanksgiving at the beach

TOPSAIL BEACH, N.C. (WNCT) – Folks across the country are coming to the North Carolina coast to celebrate Thanksgiving.

That’s right, beaches throughout our state see an increase of visitors during Thanksgiving due to the beautiful forecast.

One family WNCT spoke with had people travel from Utah, Colorado and New Jersey to spend Thanksgiving with their 48 other family members in Topsail Beach.

“It’s a lot different, as you can see we’re out on the beach,” said Jordan Jones who traveled from Utah. “We’ve got people fishing, people running, people playing on the beach so it’s a lot different than a normal Thanksgiving but we’ll still get our turkey and stuffing.”

There were many other folks out fishing and taking a stroll along the beaches with the weather being perfect Wednesday to kick off the Thanksgiving holiday.
