GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT) – The world’s largest Christmas project of its kind finished collecting toys for children.
The annual Samaritan’s Purse Project will bring toys, school supplies, hygiene items, and notes of encouragement to children from around the world .
People from all over Eastern North Carolina have been donating shoe boxes full of gifts for weeks now.
“Here they’ll be loaded on the trailers and shipped to Charlotte where they’ll be re-packaged into big cartons,” said John Groesser, coordinator volunteer. “Then shipped down to one of the ports along the coast, and then to 150 different countries around the world.”
Folks in Greenville hope to contribute over 13-thousand gift-filled shoe boxes, helping the organization reach their goal of 11 million.
