Man runs from Halifax Co. deputies responding to “shots fired” call, drugs and firearm found

SCOTLAND NECK, NC (WNCN) — The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is looking for man who ran from deputies responding to a “shots fired’ call.

The incident happened just after 1p.m. at a home on Henderson’s Farm Road on Friday.

The Sheriff’s Office says when a deputy responded to the shooting call he noticed a man standing on the front porch holding a gun.

The man was later identified as 28-year-old Kevin Carswell.

Investigators say when the deputy got out of his patrol car Carswell went inside the home and ran out the back door.

After obtaining a search warrant, investigators found 50 dosage units of heroin, 2.5 grams of crack cocaine, a digital scale, sandwich bags, a firearm, and cash.

As a result of the investigation, deputies issued an arrest warrant for Carswell.

He faces multiple felonies for drug and firearm possession.

Investigators say additional charges are pending.
