Duke Energy Progress rates to lower ahead of holidays, rise in 2016

(WNCT) – Residential customers served by Duke Energy Progress can expect some changes in their next few bills.

The company says the customers will see a decrease in overall rates starting December 1, 2015.

It comes from a drop in commodity prices and declining fuel costs.

The company says a typical customer using 1,000 kWh of electricity will see a monthly bill decrease of $3.67.

Duke Energy Progress also says it got approval to change rates on January 1, 2016. The typical customer will see an increase of $1.95 per month on their bills beginning in January.

The company says even with this increase, overall rates will be lower than the previous year.
