Wilson County man linked to double-murder disappears during trial

WILSON, N.C. (WNCN) – A Wilson man linked to the double killing of two young women disappeared in the middle of his trial Thursday.

Devon Crooms didn’t show back up to court after a lunch recess, according to Wilson County Court records.

Authorities, who later found a disabled electronic monitoring device, are currently searching for Crooms.

Crooms has been charged with two counts of accessory before the fact of murder and six counts of accessory after the fact of murder.

On Nov. 14, he was released from jail on a $50,000 bond and was required to wear an electronic monitoring device.

The charges stem from a 2011 murder in the Five Points neighborhood in Wilson.

Crooms’ attorney Louis King tells WNCN he has not been able to get a hold of Crooms and has no idea where he could be.
