Kinston Police asking public’s help in stopping string of robberies

KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) – The Kinston Department of Public Safety is asking the public’s help to stop a string of robberies targeting area businesses.

Police said in the past two weeks, there have been five robberies at the following area stores with the following suspect descriptions:

Walgreen’s

2201 N. Heritage St.
November 1, 2015 2027hrs
• Black Male
• Approx. 6’0” 180lbs
• Blue jeans, white t-shirt, black print toboggan, black shoes

Family Dollar

608 N McLewean St
November 5, 2015 1929hrs
• Black Male
• Approx. 5’4” 150lbs
• Gray jogging pants, black t-shirt, red/orange
color print toboggan, black shoes

Hardee’s

1344 Hwy 258 S
November 15, 2015 1840hrs
• Black Male
• Approx. 5’9” 135lbs
• Blue jeans, yellow t-shirt, Jamaican hat with dreads, blue shoes

Food Lion

1304 W Vernon Ave
November 19, 2015 1118hrs
• Black Male
• Approx. 5’9” 135lbs
• Black White Camo Pants, blue with red writing t-shirt, flip flop shoes

Henderson’s

550 N East St
November 19, 2015 1702hrs
• Black Male
• Approx. 5’10” 150lbs
• Black shirt, black pants, blue toboggan, black shoes

Police said the suspect or suspects would go into the store to buy an item.

Once the cashier rings up the item, the individual leaps across the counter to grab the money.

“People need to be aware and if people have seen this, seen this person that they recognize, give us a call and we’ll put him where he belongs,” Officer Woody Spencer said.

Police said if shoppers are in a store when a robbery happens, don’t get involved but get a good look at the suspect to give detectives a detailed description.
