One killed after car hits electricity pole in Pitt County

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – One person is dead after his car struck an utility pole early Sunday morning. It happened just before 3:00 a.m. on Frog Level Road by Wainright Lane in Greenville.

Highway Patrol told WNCT that the victim is a 21-year-old male. They say he was traveling southbound on Frog Level, went around the curve, and struck the pole on the northbound side. He died at the scene.

Troopers are working to notify his next of kin before releasing his identity.

Investigators are still looking into the cause of the crash, troopers say they are looking to see if alcohol is a factor in the crash.
