Students put their knowledge to the test at the annual robotics competition

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Middle school students from across Eastern North Carolina tested their knowledge at a robotics competition Saturday afternoon. Around 25 teams gathered at South Central High School in Greenville to battle their robots against each other.

The annual competition teaches kids teamwork and how to solve real world engineering challenges. Each robot was made out of Lego’s. Eighth grade student Garrett Despres says it takes months of practice to make the device perfect.

“We started doing practices in September. Our robot was finished in about a month and a half. It’s definitely a long process, but it’s worth it in the end,” Despres said.

Some students say the best part of the competition is meeting new friends from other schools.
