GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT) – The annual Alzheimer’s North Carolina walk is happening in Greenville on Saturday.
It’s a fundraiser that takes place every November, and WNCT is a proud sponsor.
The walk aims to educate the public about the disease, which causes memory loss and other intellectual disabilities.
“Our future is going to look very different with our aging population,” said Taymra Jovel, Director, Alzheimer’s NC. “The number of folks with Alzheimer’s Disease increases, so we think it’s really important to increase awareness and the walk does a really good job of doing that.”
The walk kicks off at 11:15 Saturday morning. After the walk, a flower remembrance and honor ceremony will take place by the Tar River.
WNCT’s Maria Satira is the honorary event chair and master of ceremonies this year.
