Students gear up for lego competition

AYDEN, NC (WNCT)- Students at Ayden Middle School are gearing up for a Lego competition. Congressman Walter B. Jones met with the students to learn more about their project.

In an effort to place at the Lego League Robotics competition a group of students found a problem in their community and came up with a solution. Through research they discovered their school was wasting a lot of food. To help with that they made a compost bin, and hope to come up with more ideas. Team members say this extra curricular club is a great way to get involved.

Team member Caroline Congleton said, “You can help the community and then you have a lot of fun doing this and then your team is kind of strange but fun in a good way.”

The competition also requires teams to build a robot associated with their problem. This year’s theme is trash trek.
