Arrest after Onslow Co handicapped woman reportedly punched in the face

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The Onslow County Sherriff’s Office says detectives arrested a man who punched a handicapped woman in the face and stole her purse.

The reported assault happened on November 11. Deputies say Bernard Tyson, 48, got mad when the victim would not drive him where he wanted.

Tyson is charged with Felony Larceny from the Person and Misdemeanor Assault on a Handicapped Person.

He was placed in the Onslow County Detention Center under $5,000 secured bond.
