Students at Havelock’s Roger Bell Elementary honor veterans

HAVELOCK, N.C. (WNCT) – At Roger Bell Elementary in Havelock, students honored the men and women of the Armed Forces for their service.

Many of the students at Roger Bell Elementary are military children, especially since the school is across from Air Station Cherry Point. The veteran service gave them the opportunity to thank the American heroes they call mom and dad.

“It’s humbling, it’s very fantastic to come and see that they put this on for us, for all the veterans,” said
Richard Jude, veteran at Tuesday ceremony, who added, “Not that we feel forgotten, but it’s so nice to get appreciated and told thank you.”

The assembly featured a selection of songs dedicated to veterans, a short student play and a performance by the Roger Bell dance team.
