New York cease and desist fantasy football games

ALBANY, N.Y. (WNCT) – No more fantasy football, at least for New York.

New York’s Attorney General Eric Schneiderman told daily fantasy sports companies Draftkings and Fanduel to stop accepting bets in the state.

He says the firms are engaged in illegal gambling. Schneiderman says the contests run by the firms are promoted like a lottery and are essentially games of chance, not skill.

Last month, Nevada required fantasy sports companies obtain a gambling license.
