3 suspects charged in connection with jewelry store robbery

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Three suspects have been charged in connection with a jewelry store robbery in Asheville.

Media outlets report the robbery happened Sunday night at Jared Galleria of Jewelry.

Twenty-year-old Malik Hideo McCrary, of Detroit; 27-year-old Maurice Angelo Pearce Jr., of Pontiac, Michigan; and a 16-year-old were arrested. Each one faces one felony count of robbery with a dangerous weapon and one felony count of conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Arrest warrants state that the men allegedly stole large amounts of jewelry and diamonds, with an estimated value of $500,000. The warrants also accuse the suspects of threatening to use weapons they had in their possession, including mini sledge hammers and a gun.

The suspects are being held on bond. It wasn’t clear if they have attorneys.
