Locals in Beaufort County work to honor first responders

WASHINGTON, N.C. (WNCT) – Despite national scrutiny of law enforcement and first responders, folks in Beaufort County are working to honor their good work.

The organization is called Beaufort County PAL. The goal is to get the community to trust one another and work together. An event Saturday night honored eight first responders for their hard work and dedication to the job. PAL president, Alvin Powell says the program is very important.

“If an accident happens in the line of duty involving law enforcement or first responders, and atmosphere of trust and transparency would already be established,” Powell said.

To nominate a Beaufort County first responder or law enforcement officer for next year, call the Beaufort County Police Activities League at 252-948-9439, visit their website, or email beaufortcountypal@hotmail.com.
