SOCASTEE, S.C. (AP) – Rescue workers in Horry County are searching for a 5-month-old infant after a woman said she put her baby in a creek near Socastee, SC.
Local media outlets reported that officers were called around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday by a resident who said she found a drenched woman on the porch. Lt. Raul Denis says the woman told the neighbor the woman had put her baby in the creek.
Officers searched the creek and other nearby waterways near the Intracoastal Waterway.
Thirty-three-year-old Sarah Lane Toney of Myrtle Beach has been arrested on unrelated charges while the search continues. Toney was taken to a hospital in Conway for an evaluation.
