Deputies arrest 3 Pinetops residents on heroin, marijuana charges

PINETOPS, N.C. (WNCT) – Deputies in Edgecombe County say they’ve taken three Pinetops residents into custody on drug charges.

It happened Tuesday when they got a tip about drugs being stored at 1282 NC Hwy 111 in Pinetops.

A search of a vehicle, the property and the three people at the residence turned up 70 bindles of heroin, a bookbag with two one gallon-sized glass pickle jars inside which contained approximately 292 grams of marijuana, a second book bag with two sets of digital scales along with a pint-sized glass jar, which contained approximately 55 grams of marijuana, 3 additional grams of marijuana, and about $1,000 in cash.

22-year-old Leroy Jenkins, 24-year-old Jaquez Leevern Silver, and Milton Ray Thorpe were placed under arrest and taken to the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office. Jenkins was charged with possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, possess heroin, possession with the intent to sell/deliver heroin, trafficking heroin and maintaining a vehicle for the sell/keep of a controlled substance.  He’s in the Edgecombe County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond.

Silver was charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession with the intent to sell/deliver marijuana, possess heroin, possession with the intent to sell/deliver heroin, trafficking heroin and maintaining a vehicle for the sell/keep of a controlled substance.  Silver is in the Edgecombe County Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond.

Thorpe was charged with possess with the intent to sell/deliver heroin, trafficking heroin, possess heroin, simple possession of marijuana and maintaining a vehicle for the sell/keep of a controlled substance.  Thorpe was placed under a $25,000 secured bond at the Edgecombe County Detention Center.
