MAYSVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – North Carolina water quality inspectors headed back out to Maysville on Monday to check on how well the water treatment plant is doing.
Earlier this year, a massive sewage spill leaked into the White Oak River.
The state fined the town for water produced not being up to standard.
A spokesman with the state water quality program told WNCT that state officials met with the town last week to see how plans are coming along.
Last month, the town asked for a reduction in the fine. The spokesman said the state is still considering that plan. The town also talked about a special order in getting the plant’s operations up to standard.
Monday’s inspection also included taking samples.
The initial results should be back within the next couple of days.
