GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – A Farmville driver has been charged with driving left of center after a morning wreck in Greenville.
It happened around 8:30 a.m. on E. Firetower Road near Tower Place.
Police say when they arrived on the scene of the two-vehicle crash they found 62-year-old Theresa Flowers of Winterville pinned inside her 1998 Toyota Camry.
Greenville Fire-Rescue used the jaws of life to gain access inside the vehicle and remove Flowers. She was taken to Vidant Medical Center for serious injuries. Those injuries don’t currently appear to be life threatening.
The second driver, 30-year-old Tawanda Burden, of Farmville, and her three children were taken to Vidant Medical Center for minor injuries.
Investigators say Burden’s 2007 Cadillac Escalade, which was traveling west on Firetower Road, crossed into the turning lane and continued into the eastbound lanes into oncoming traffic. Both vehicles sustained front end damage consistent with the witness accounts.
Burden was charged with driving left of center.
The road was closed to traffic until about 9:15 as crews worked to tow the cars and clean the road.
