KDPS: Man critically injured after Halloween stabbing near LCC, suspect arrested

KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) – A Halloween stabbing in Kinston sends one man to the hospital in critical condition.

The Kinston Department of Public Safety says it happened just before 10a.m. Saturday.

KDPS says officers were called to the 700 block of New Bern Road across from Lenoir Community College in reference to a stabbing.

When emergency crews arrived it was discovered the stabbing victim had made his way to the Kangaroo Express on Highway 70.

Officers say when fire and ems crews responded to the gas station; they found a man with five stab wounds including one to the chest. The victim was taken Lenoir Memorial Hospital and later airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. As of Monday morning, the victim was listed in critical condition.

The suspect is identified as 39-year-old Bentley Thomas III of Dover. KDPS says Thomas turned himself into Lenoir Community College officers Saturday.

Thomas is charged with Attempted First Degree Murder. He is being held the Lenoir County Detention Center without bond.

The incident is still under investigation.
