Yacht sinks after hitting jetty along NC coast

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, N.C. (WNCT) — The Coast Guard saved a man from a sinking yacht in Wrightsville Beach Saturday morning after the boat hit a jetty in Masonboro Inlet.

The 60-foot yacht named “Somewhere in Time” was taking on water after hitting the rocks at 9:30 a.m. The 59-year-old man was the only person on the boat. He was taken to the station and suffered no injuries.

The yacht is a Sea Ray Sundancer listed on Atlantic Yacht and Ship. The boat is priced there for $699,000. The boat includes 3 staterooms, 2 restrooms, a galley and twin engines with 1050 horsepower according to the website.

Towboat U.S. has been notified.
