Paranormal activity in one MA town

MARBLEHEAD, MA (CBS NEWS) – From houses to historical sites, paranormal investigators work to determine what’s haunted and what can be debunked by science or the environment.

The search for ghosts and spirits often ends in mortal disappointment, but every now and then, paranormal activity is found.

Nick Smith of Crypto Paranormal Investigators has explored more than 800 cases of suspected spiritual activity.
“We began doing local haunts in my neighborhood in queens, cemeteries, and then as we got bigger we got calls to do businesses and private residences.”

But most cases end like this one, where a homeowner thought a ghost was shaking their bed.

It turned out to be the wind moving a garage door.

The team says 96 percent of the time, claims of paranormal activity can be debunked with real-world explanations. That leaves four percent of cases, like this one here in Marblehead, MA, that can’t.

Two centuries ago, Fort Sewall kept prisoners locked up underground. Stories of its ghosts haunt the town’s historic inns and bars.

“I believe there is paranormal activity, whether that is its ghosts or environmental phenomenon that remains to be seen,” said resident Nick Smith.

Smith says, he’ll keep looking.
