CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Bank of America is cutting about 100 jobs in Charlotte.

The Charlotte Observer reported (http://bit.ly/1LZE4um) that a bank spokesman said Wednesday that the latest cuts come as the bank reduces the number of workers who deal with problem mortgages. Some of the cuts are coming in the technology and operations unit.

The bank has long said it has about 15,000 workers in Charlotte.

Bank of America says as the housing market recovers, it’s reducing the number of people working with customers who fall behind on home loan payments.

The bank has been adding staff to work with affluent customers, as well as in its business loan operations.

Bank spokesman Dan Frahm said workers whose positions are being eliminated will be able to apply for other positions in the bank.
