Crash creates major mango mess in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A semi truck carrying thousands of mangoes crashed near downtown Indianapolis Wednesday morning, creating a mess for early morning drivers and for crews at the scene.

Indiana State Police say the crash happened on the ramp from Interstate 70 west to Interstate 65 south around 2 a.m.

The driver of the semi was not injured in the crash, just shaken up from the incident.

Crews were able to clear enough of the right lane of the ramp to get some cars through right after the crash.

The road re-opened around 9 a.m. after being closed for nearly seven hours. The truck was carrying 40,000 pounds of the fruit.
