Remains of missing NC man found

SILER CITY, N.C. (WNCN) – The remains of a Siler City man who was reported missing weeks ago, were located off Siler City Snow Camp Road earlier today according to the State Bureau of Investigation.

Esau Abraham Brenes, 25, was last seen in Siler City on October 4th before being reported missing later.

Law enforcement officers initiated a search for Brenes that continued over the following three weeks.

Brenes’ body was found Saturday morning, in an area near the edge of the wood line on Siler City Snow Camp Road, just outside the city limit.

The scene was worked by investigators until Saturday afternoon and Brenes was identified this afternoon.

“The investigation is being treated as a homicide,” said Shannon O’Toole, spokesperson for the SBI.

The investigation into Brenes’ death continues as all leads and information are currently being pursued.

This is a joint investigation conducted by the Siler City Police Department, Chatham County Sheriff Office and the State Bureau of Investigation.
