GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Two people are dead after a fatal accident Sunday night in Greenville.

The names of the two Hispanic males have yet to be released. Police say they are working to identify next of kin.

Sgt. Phil Rollinson with Greenville Police Department says investigators believe the driver of a van lost control of the vehicle on 264 South near Old Pactolus Road. Police say the van flipped, landing on an embankment.

The driver of the van was taken to Vidant Medical Center, where he died Monday morning. A passenger that was stuck under the van died at the scene.

Greenville Traffic Safety is investigating the accident. They’ll be out reconstructing the crash Monday.

Alcohol and speed are suspected as contributing factors in the crash.
