Home sold at auction built by PCC students

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Students at Pitt Community College stepped outside the classroom and built a home, which sold Saturday at an auction.

The home has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. PCC students built the structure, put in custom oak cabinets and wired the heating and air conditioning.

Sophomore student, Cameron Pomeroy, says it took about a year to build but gave him hands on experience.

“I learned how to build walls and stuff and building the floor system. You work your way up to the walls and then you work your way up to the roof.”

The winning bid was 65,000 dollars. Students are building two other homes that will be on auction next year.
