Free flu shots improving health of Greenville community

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Residents of Greenville were given their annual flu shot for free Saturday. Walgreens partnered with Greenville Mayor Allen Thomas to distribute 2,000 free influenza vaccines. Pharmacists gave shots at English Chapel Church and also at The Latino Festival.

The goal is to have a healthy and happy community. Recipients say it’s a great initiative that helps them save money while staying healthy.

“If I am healthy, then maybe I will not pass on the flu, cold and sicknesses back to my co-workers, my family members and maybe my church members,” says Cynthia Daniels. “I hope that if I’m healthy, they will be healthy as well.”

The CDC recommends everyone ages 6 months and older get a flu shot this season.
