A place aims to help men with domestic violence issues

KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) – A program in Lenoir, Jones and Greene county aims to help men who were involved in domestic violence.

The Batterers’ Intervention program with SAFE is a 26 week course which provides men the opportunity to see how to handle situations correctly. Executive Director of the program, Sue Proctor, says it’s important to learn how to resolve conflict. She wants to encourage the abusers to work together with their partner.

“We want to give them tools for their pockets when conflict arises, instead of striking out as they so often do or being verbally or emotionally abusive. They will better understand how to take a time out,” explained Proctor.
