ORANGE, Conn. (WTNH) — Three men have been arrested after police say they started a fight at a restaurant and flipped over a table, which landed on an elderly customer and a small child.

Orange police were called to Chip’s Restaurant at 321 Boston Post Road just after 9:30 Saturday morning for reports of a large fight. Officers said that 31-year-old Abner Morales, 20-year-old Joel Martinez, and 29-year-old Matthew Sawyer, all of Bridgeport, were seated in the restaurant causing a disturbance when several other customers asked them to quiet down and watch their language.

Police said the men became angry and flipped over a table which landed on an elderly customer and a small child. Responding officers said they had to suppress a chaotic scene. They said there were approximately 100 customers in the restaurant at the time.

Medical attention was provided to those injured.

Police arrested Morales, Martinez, and Sawyer and charged them with risk of injury to a minor and breach of peace. They were all released after posting $500 bond and are due in court on October 30. Officers learned there was an additional warrant on file with the Bridgeport Police Department for Morales. That warrant was served at the time of this incident.
