WALLACE, NC (WNCT)- Wallace Police arrested a man Monday in connection with the murder of Walter West on Oct. 4.
Police say Geovony West, 25, was taken into custody without incident at the Pender County Jail, where he was held on probation violation.
Geovony is appearing before Duplin County Magistrate to where he will be held at the Duplin County Jail without bond.
Geovony was the nephew of the deceased Walter West, 44.
Tamela West had called officers at 3:30pm on Oct. 4 and told them that she and her son had returned from the grocery store and found her husband, Walter West, on the floor of the home and there was a problem. There were also additional calls from neighbors, who said they heard gunshots and loud voices.
Duplin EMS pronounced West dead at the scene.
On the same day West was murdered, police said another man, 25-year-old Michael J. Lamb, was also murdered with gunshot wounds to the head and chest.
Witnesses told police that Lamb was talking to a power company employee at the time the incident happened. During Lamb’s conversation with that power company employee, an unknown suspect ran up wearing a black hoodie and a mask and shot Lamb.
That suspect, who’s still at large, is believed to be an African American male, short and stocky build. He fled the scene towards Raleigh Rd.
Lamb’s murder happened about seven hours after West’s.
