Report: ECU student allegedly sexually assaulted

GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT) — East Carolina University Police is reminding students not to accept rides from anyone they don’t know after a student reports being sexually assaulted.

The incident happened Monday, October 5. According to a report, a student was allegedly sexually assaulted within the City of Greenville after accepting a ride to campus from two unknown men late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. There is no detailed information on who the men are, or the vehicle involved. The ECU Police Department is assisting the Greenville Police Department with the investigation, including reviewing camera footage.

Students are encouraged to use ECU Transit during its operational hours and SafeRide from 6:30 p.m.-2:00 a.m. If you have any information regarding this case, contact the East Carolina University Police Department at (252) 328-6787 or the Greenville Police Department at (252) 329-4315.
